no. 100

This is my 100th post. Can you believe it? It has been just shy of 9 months since I began this blog and it’s been a (mostly) wonderful experience. I now fully appreciate the excruciating torture of the writer’s process: there are days when the words come tripping off my tongue, and others when I struggle to voice my inspiration.

This particular post, in fact, has caused me much pause. I have been agonizing for days over what to write about on this auspicious occasion. Should I review a favorite restaurant, adore a favorite chef, or, perhaps, explain a favorite recipe? And then, to my surprise, I was flattered to discover that my blog had been awarded The Versatile Blogger Award by fellow food blogger, Jereme’s Kitchen. I’m honored and humbled–thanks, Jereme–it’s so nice to be noticed. What a perfect way to commemorate this milestone!

However, in order to accept this award, I have to meet certain criteria:

  • Thank the blogger who has awarded you and link back to them (see above).
  • Share 7 random things about yourself.
  • Pass the award along to 15 other newly discovered blogs.

Easy you say? Not so much. Well, let’s start with 7 random things about myself:

I am a perfectionist. This applies to a lot of things in life, but when it comes to this blog  I am obsessive about spelling and grammar. Typos shout to me from the page. Does it show? I hope so.
I wanted to be an actress when I grew up.
I love old movies, and am a Britcom fanatic. If you have to ask, then never mind.
After working at Showtime Cable Television, I became a producer of corporate communication videos for a small production company.
I tend to be impatient and am sometimes shy.
I’m most proud of my two amazing kids, and grateful for my loving husband, who’s my biggest fan.
The beach is my salvation and, when the weather’s warm, I go there often to recharge my batteries.

And now for the awards. This was tough–I have been following some awesome blogs for a long time, but many of them have already been well lauded. So I took a hard look around to try to find other worthy opponents, new to me, who deserve this mention. I was delighted (and intimidated) to discover there are a multitude of great food bloggers out there. This list recognizes some of the newer, but also some of the older blogs that have been inspirational to me.

Here we go (in alphabetical order):

    • bakerette: because I love dessert
    • dinner: a love story: charming and real
    • girli chef: you had me at Caldo de Res
    • honey and jam: so sweet
    • kitchenist: lovely recipes and cookbook reviews
    • little brown pen: beautiful design
    • no recipes: love this concept
    • not without salt: gorgeous pictures, great writing
    • savory sweet life: wonderful storytelling
    • slow like honey: more breathtaking photography
    • sprouted kitchen: the blog I aspire to be
    • sunday-suppers: blog that first inspired me
    • tartelette: great writing and breathtaking photos
    • the constant hunger: more lovely recipes
    • the sweet beet: investigative and inquisitive
